Great Hawk
The fourth boss, at 2,000 metres under the moon: a giant hawk that dives at the ninja again and again, faster as it gets hurt.
What it does
The hawk circles high above and ahead. When it's ready, a red ! appears and a dotted curve shows its dive: down from the sky, sweeping through the spot where the ninja will be, and back up. Then it dives.
The dives come quicker as the fight goes on. After you land the first hit, it also starts diving from behind, sweeping in from the left side of the screen.
How to beat it
Put a line in its dive. When the hawk flies into one of your lines, it takes a hit, flaps away and goes back to circling. Three hits and it's down.
- When the red ! appears, look at the dotted curve.
- Draw a short line across the lower part of the curve, close to where it meets the ninja's path.
- That spot is right no matter how far away the dive starts, and it's also the spot that protects him.
Dives from behind
Once hurt, the hawk alternates: one dive from the front, the next from behind. The warning and the dotted curve work the same way, just mirrored. Keep an eye on the left edge of the screen after the first hit.
Best ink
Any ink works, even fire; the pen is ideal. What matters is where the line is, not what it's made of.
Common mistakes
- Drawing at the top of the curve. The hawk is moving fastest and furthest away there. The bottom of the curve is easier and safer.
- Relaxing after a hit. The next dive comes sooner each time.
